Who are we? We are a voluntary group called Helensburgh Play Park Association set up in June 2010 by local parents/people who were appalled by the state of all the play parks in Helensburgh, in particular Hermitage Park. The 3 major parks in Helensburgh (Hermitage Park, Kidson Park, James St Park) had dangerous/broken equipment, broken flooring, litter/empty bottles, very old equipment (not replaced in 30 years), little or no benches, bins and picnic tables etc in all 3 parks. Since then, the Council have repaired the broken flooring, added new swings and painted the equipment.
Who would benefit The project will create a safe play space in which children can learn and play with a sense of independence within their own community, increasing their activity levels and positively impacting on their health now and in the future. It will also provide the population of Helensburgh, and in particular families, with a focal point and somewhere to meet with friends and enjoy the company of others, without having to travel outside the local area. |
